API statement on Kerry-Boxer vote

Bill Bush | 202.682.8069 | bushw@api.org

WASHINGTON, November 5, 2009 – The American Petroleum Institute issued the following statement today from President Jack Gerard on the Boxer-EPW (Environment and Public Works Committee) bill:

“Today’s action should mark the end of Kerry-Boxer, Waxman-Markey-style legislation that could destroy millions of American jobs and drive up fuel prices, punishing everyone who drives, flies, or takes a bus or train. The only bipartisanship evident today was opposition to this approach. Congress now has the opportunity to develop a meaningful, bipartisan energy and climate policy that addresses the challenges at hand without holding back our nation’s economic recovery.”
