U.S. Carbon Dioxide Emissions 2007
The U.S. Energy Information Administration's report, U.S. Carbon Dioxide Emissions from Energy Sources 2006 Flash Estimate, indicates that U.S. energy-related CO2 emissions grew by 1.6 percent in 2007 compared to a 2.2 percent growth in GDP. Increases in heating and cooling degree days contributed to this increase with emissions from the residential and commercial sectors showing the greatest increase over 2006. However, CO2 emissions from the industrial sector continued their general downward trend and 2007 emissions were below 1990 levels.

A study by ICF International, Addendum to Impact Assessement of Mandatory GHG Control Legislation, indicates that climate legislation pending in Congress could significantly reduce clean-burning natural gas production and send refining production and jobs overseas.
